What You'll Get
Soccer is the world's game, mainly because it's widely popular and virtually impossible to play on the moon. Swill suds while watching earth-bound competition with today’s Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of Irish pub fare and drinks at Lunasa in the East Village. This deal is valid from Monday, May 2 to Friday, May 6, during UEFA Champions League Week.
Lunasa, meaning August in Gaelic, slings a menu of classic Irish pub fare in a warm, modern atmosphere. Gallop mouth-first into a bowl of house-made Crazy Horse chili ($7), before chomping on a goats-cheese panini, brimming with creamy goat cheese, fire-roasted red peppers, fresh basil, and pesto ($9). Fans of futbol can nosh on classic bangers and mash ($14), or house-made shepherd’s pie ($13), while praising a favorite soccer team's playing style or maligning a hated ref's clothing choices. The watering hole will broadcast live UEFA Champions League semifinal soccer matches on HDTVs, while hosting competitive chest-bumping and fist-pumping tournaments.
Imbibe imported draft brews, including Guinness, or domestic drinks ($6 on tap; $5 bottled) in Lunasa’s charming outdoor beer garden, or crowd the libation station’s sleek, wooden bar to hop on Lunasa’s free WiFi to talk smack or praise a player’s shapely calves.
Lunasa usually opens at 2 p.m. on weekdays, but will open earlier for certain games, so call ahead. This Groupon cannot be combined with happy hour specials.
