With a 4.5-star average from Yelpers and the support of 91% of Urbanspooners, Mad Dogs Café was listed in the Daily Aztec’s feature on local, independent eateries: > * If the mood for an incredible breakfast or lunch strikes, an off-beat little place just blocks from the beach, Mad Dogs Café, is the place to be. This café offers a full coffeehouse menu along with much more. The two main dishes are a “Mad Dog” sandwich — which comes in a wide variety of incarnations, including a breakfast option — and an item called a “Crumpet,” which is so much more than the name implies. Crumpets’ flavors can vary, from egg and cheese to peanut butter and chocolate chip. The menu also includes homemade potato chips, fresh baguettes and a wide range of obscure yet delicious gelato flavors. – Shannon Clark, Daily Aztec > * The best food on the beach! I had their breakfast sandwich, it was saturated with flavor i didn’t know existed on a piece of bread. All their food is real, authentic, and cut, grilled, and served fresh with every order. I highly reccpmend it! [sic] – Hutchmaster, Urbanspoon
Mad Dogs Café
To create a Mad Dog, cooks take a house-baked baguette bun and tuck one of 10 gourmet sausages inside, choosing from varieties including traditional english bangers, spicy spanish chorizo, and vegetarian-friendly italian soy sausage. Patrons can then smother their choice in sauces ranging from ketchup to curry to the house’s signature Mad sauce. Mad Dogs Café also offers Extreme Mad Dogs, created from couture game such as ostrich, alligator, and wandering decks of Uno cards.
