Mad Science of Pittsburgh
The Mad Science Group has been investing in research and development for more than 30 years, but its work goes much deeper than financial backing. Since 2009, its afterschool programs, in-class workshops, summer camps, and birthday parties for kids and teens have educated students across the globe. Young scientists and engineers will bend light, spark chemical reactions, alter voices, and create a small-scale storm complete with thunder, lightning, and tiny dogs hiding under tiny beds. They've presented at the National Science Teachers Association Conference, developed programs for Toronto's Treehouse TV, and been recognized by Guinness World Records for having the most baking-soda volcanoes erupt simultaneously.
