Late singer-songwriter Laura Nyro's influential mix of Broadway-style pop, jazz, soul and folk protest songs provided late '60s hits for The 5th Dimension ("Stoned Soul Picnic") and Barbra Streisand ("Stoney End"), among many others. Nyro's been cited as the inspiration for dozens of wide-ranging artists, from Bette Midler and Elton John to Todd Rundgren and Broadway's Stephen Schwartz, and was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012. This intimate concert at Cafe Wha? features Diane Garisto -- a member of Nyro's vocal Harmony Group until Nyro's passing in the mid '90s -- singing some of her favorite Nyro tunes and sharing stories about her extraordinary experiences recording and touring with the late, great Laura Nyro. She'll be accompanied by Larry Saltzman on guitar & Elis Morris on keys.
