Laughter is, by its nature, a hilarious architectural element. Today's deal gets you a ticket to a building made from laughter: $5 for a ticket to Magooby's Joke House, a $12–$14 value. Here, laughter supports the ceiling by filling the club, an intimate space located in Parkville.
Every week, Magooby's schedule features established national headliners, including comedians featured on Letterman, The Tonight Show, and Comedy Central. Although many of the comedians featured have made nationally televised appearances, you needn't worry about two of them getting into an onstage fight over contractual issues or comedic supremacy. Magooby's is a down-to-earth comedic facility. In fact, it's so down-to-earth that it's in a root cellar. The parking is free, and guests are encouraged to show up prior to showtime and enjoy a drink—no waiting in a cramped space or standing outside required. If you do want to stand outside, be sure to wear moon shoes.
Light eats are available for devouring, and there is a two-item minimum for each show. The Magooby Burger ($9), an 8-ounce sirloin cheeseburger that comes with fries, is one such example. Fries and onion rings are $5 each. If you remember to bring your wet-wipes, order 10 chicken wings ($8) with hot sauce. If you don't like a joke, resist the urge to throw your chicken bones on the stage, unless the comedian is Carrot Top, whose entire act pretty much relies on your discarded chicken bones. Specialty drinks with yuck-yuck names are available in addition to beers and spirits. Try the Farmer's Daughter ($8), a blend of Southern Comfort, peach schnapps, grenadine, orange juice, and soda.
