What You'll Get
A true Irish bar showcases its culinary heritage proudly with traditional stouts, hearty shepherd's pies, and cabbage-scented air fresheners. Explore Celtic culinary roots with today's Groupon: for $8, you get two shepherd's pie appetizers (an $8 value) and a choice of domestic or mircobrew beers for two (up to a $9.50 value) at Maher's Irish Pub in Lake Oswego (up to a $17.50 total value). Check out what Maher's currently has on tap.
Maher's Pub authenticates the Irish experience with a rousing roster of microbrew beers, classic cuisine, and weekly live music. Drop by for happy hour or dinner and bask in al fresco breezes on Maher's outdoor patio while gulping down a bottle of Pabst Blue Ribbon ($2.50) or a pint of a local microbrew (up to $4.75). Diners can warm their bones next to an outdoor fire-pit table and sink spoons into an appetizer-size shepherd's pie, which encloses seasoned beef, carrots, and mash like a perplexing utility bill. Creamy coats of melted cheddar, onions, and sliced tomatoes add a tangy zip to an Irish favorite, accompanied by a side of house-made coleslaw. Visit Thursday through Saturday and linger longer over live music, or try your brain at free team trivia on Monday nights, where competitors field questions about extinct presidents, obscure peninsulas, and how to properly forge four-leaf clovers.
Groupon is donating $1 from every Portland deal sold on Portland Beer Day to the Glen Hay Falconer Foundation's scholarship fund; up to $2,000 will be donated. Named for the late brewer Glen Hay, the foundation provides area brewers with opportunities to further their craft. In 2011, it is offering educational scholarships to the World Brewing Academy at the Siebel Institute and to the American Brewers Guild.
