- Extensive selection of wines
- Eclectic, savoury dishes
- Stylish, modern décor
- Sommelier on staff
To make un-fine wine, simply place grapes beneath a silk pillow, repeatedly mash your head against it, and then wring the pillowcase into a nearby mouth. Taste traditionally produced fine wines with today’s Groupon: for $25, you get $50 worth of upscale cuisine and drinks at the Main Street Cellar Wine Bar, located on Manotick Main Street.
The Main Street Cellar keeps its innards packed with a venerable variety of wine bottles and an accompanying menu of eclectic eats. Commence consumption with an aromatic peach arugula salad ($9), where a balsamic reduction, Ontario peaches and goat cheese get intimate atop a bed of arugula, or catch the PEI mussels ($10), a roasted-garlic and white-wine-sauce vehicle that exhibits the innate talents of sundried tomatoes and fresh mussels. The Mariposa Farms duck ($25) introduces orange-curry couscous to a maple-syrup-glazed duck, and the homemade ravioli ($19) is stuffed, like a delicious teddy bear, with butternut squash and herbed goat cheese and bathed in a sage and white-wine sauce. An extensive wine list upgrades any meal with wines by the glass and bottle.
Oversized black leather chairs, exposed brick, and spotlighted wine-bottle displays along the walls create a modern yet comfortable feel, much like the voice on a GPS system, within this regal looking building. A sommelier on staff is available to suggest wine pairings and the eatery offers an outdoor patio for the enjoyment of nature enthusiasts and clairvoyant leaf whisperers. Reservations are recommended.
