What You'll Get

For $24, today's side deal gets you one introductory scuba-diving lesson from Malibu Divers (a $50 value), plus 25% off future tuition toward open-water scuba-diving certification. Classes take place in Pepperdine University's heated, Olympic-sized pool and are open to all students 12 years or older; people younger than 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Backed with 40 years of experience, Malibu Divers employs a staff of skilled divers who will guide you through the introductory course and first dive. Each session starts with a brief poolside orientation, followed by approximately 30 minutes of in-water guidance. Students are taught the tricks of the underwater-breathing trade using supplied scuba equipment, while gaining a strong sense of aquatic safety. During the class, feel free to ask the experienced instructor questions regarding the fancy gadgetry, or to gain information about taking newfound scuba skills to a deeper level.

Scuba courses are kept small, with four to eight people apiece, to guarantee everyone receives individualized attention. Call ahead to schedule the introductory class, and then grab a bathing suit and towel for a dip into the deep.
