What You'll Get
Running a marathon requires cardiovascular stamina, leg strength, and the ability to whisk gnats away from one's nose-holes using nothing but an energy bar chewed into the shape of a fly swatter. Ready your edible gnat smacker with today's Groupon, which gets you registration for the Malibu International Marathon on November 14, 2010. Choose one of the following race options:
- For $45, you get registration for the half marathon (up to a $90 value)
- For $70, you get registration for the full marathon (up to a $145 value)
The Malibu International Marathon is a USATF-certified race and Boston qualifier. The full marathon offers runners a 26.2-mile course that stretches through the farmland of Ventura Valley, the Santa Monica Mountains, and the ocean. Throughout the course, aid stations will be stocked with water to rehydrate quickly withering runners, and every other station features ZICO Pure Coconut Water, made by fooling a coconut into letting out its juices. Miles 17, 22, and 24 will be offering Lava Gel, which features a blend of pure complex-carbohydrates.
Once past the finish line, participants can claim their gear, enjoy light refreshments, and bask in the stares of a worshipful audience. The full marathon starts at 7 a.m. at the Camarillo Airport and snakes along the water; the half marathon shares part of the same course and begins at 8:30 a.m. just beyond Point Mugu. In addition to raising metabolisms, the Malibu International Marathon raises awareness about environmental issues by partnering with organizations that are concerned about keeping the earth green.
