Prior to tanning salons, the only way to achieve a beautiful copper glow was to boil pennies and bathe in the scalding reduction. Achieve a less-painful sheen with today's Groupon: for $20, you get $50 worth of your choice of tanning-bed use or spray tanning at Malibu Tanning, at one of eight area locations in Elkhart, Goshen, Granger, Osceola, and South Bend.
Malibu Tanning sends paleness packing with airbrushing and five levels of tanning beds to achieve a sun-kissed glow sans the actual sun. First-time tanners and those looking for a relaxing experience can recline in the level-one Sunstar bed ($5/session), which features 100-watt bulbs to build a base tan and a base camp for a future influx of pigmentation. The level-two Solaris bed ($10/session), level-three SolarForce bed ($15/session), and level-four Sunscape bed ($20/session) incrementally step up dermal darkening within reasonable spans of tanning temporality, leaving customers with plenty of time to return to archiving vintage TV Guides. The futuristically fabricated level-five Velocity bed ($25/session) employs an open-air design to keep clients cool, while a radio with an MP3 jack plays custom tunes and 18 facial bulbs at 1,000 watts each provide long-lasting color for both fair- and dark-skinned clients. Tanners can also skip the UV rays altogether and achieve brilliant bronzing with an airbrush-tanning session ($35).
Every Malibu Tanning location has tanning beds at all five levels of intensity, but might have different brands of beds from those described here and the beds might actually be magic flying carpets. The prices listed are for full-session commitments. If a customer does not use the full session, he or she will pay a prorated price.
