Mama Gustos 314

Mama Gustos 314 is a full-service ice cream and pizza parlor—but it wasn’t always that way. Before the Mama Gusto times, the space was inhabited by an old-school ice-cream shop, lovingly called Frostbites. When the temperature dipped and business slowed, owner Genevieve Beckley decided a little warmth could do the tummy some good. Drawing on her passion for Italian eats, she became a franchisee of the Mama Gustos Pizzeria dynasty. Now guests of Mama Gustos can lose forks in a Sicilian-style deep-dish pizza and then follow suit with Frostbites’ popular scoops.

Walls not slated with stacked stone or dark wood wall slats are coated with paint the hue of melted butter; pew-style booths and hardwood floors add to the cozy, rustic feel. In the glow of modern hanging lights, tables are strewn with fresh bruschetta, stromboli, and hearty pastas of mostaccioli and cannelloni. After finishing off a glass of wine or draft beer, guests can sidle up to the ice-cream counter that offers 30 toppings—ideal for decorating an ice-cream cone or convincing a friend they are an ice-cream sundae.
