Without arcade games, the only way to hit a 500-foot home run is with Mark McGwire standing directly behind, guiding one’s arms and hips and whispering the day’s wind patterns. Sidestep Big Mac’s coaching fees with today's Groupon: for $7, you get $15 worth of pizzeria fare and drinks, and $15 worth of game tokens at Mama Lea's Kids Zone.
Mama Lea's Kids Zone fuses family fun with a fully stocked menu of pizza, subs, and appetizers. Nourish the entire clan with a large buffalo-chicken pie ($12.99), or lessen joystick withdrawal by furnishing hands with a personal-size pizza ($3.99+). Meaty sub sandwiches such as the Papa's club ($5.99) are loaded with ham, pepperoni, and turkey before being buttered up, pushed into the oven for a golden tan, decorated with a sash that says “pizza,” and quizzed by a panel on every member of the Osmond family. Meanwhile, appetizers provide on-the-go fuel in the form of cheese- drenched nachos ($2.29), barbecue or buffalo wings ($6.99), and bite-size pizzas ($4.29).
A massive signature wall scribbled with autographs from past patrons underscores the communal vibe at Mama Lea's Kids Zone. The colorful atmosphere is further lit up by nearly 40 arcade games, including skee-ball, air hockey, and popular titles such as Deal or No Deal and Virtual Homework. A few machines surrender tickets that can be traded in for prizes or turned into cheap leashes for pet dragons.
