Before Man-PACK, the world of men's bags was split into two very separate camps: utilitarian bags for athletic or outdoorsy activities, and high-end bags for the corporate workplace. Aaron Tweedie—a veteran, outdoorsman, and businessman—wanted something different. When his search proved fruitless, he decided to design his own bag, one that would bridge the gap and feel as at home on a construction site or hiking trail as it would on a commute in an urban environment.
His creation was dubbed an Every Day Carry (EDC) bag and eventually made its way to ABC's Shark Tank. Here are a few of Man-PACK's vaunted characteristics:
Ergonomic sling-style design: A backpack must be taken off if you want to rummage through its contents. With this sling-style messenger bag, however, you can swing the bag around your waist mid-stride to reach anything stored inside. Once it's returned to its normal position, the bag's weight is evenly distributed across the lower back.
Maximum storage: Despite a slim profile, the bag can pack a lot. On the exterior, there's a chest-mounted phone pocket, a collapsible beverage holder, a utility pocket, and pen slots. The main compartment is large enough to carry 8"x11" binders and files, as well as an e-reader, fishing gear, or medical supplies. There are also four interior pockets. Some models feature a concealed, Neoprene-lined pocket to protect expensive tablets or concealed carry firearms.
No more right-hand dominance: Because the bag was originally designed for concealed carry firearms, each model notes whether it is right-hand or left-hand draw. While that's helpful for CCW permit holders, anyone would find it useful to know which shoulder the bag is made to be carried on.
Water resistance: Most of the models are made from pack cloth or oil-scrubbed buffalo leather. Both types of materials prevent rain from soaking through.
