What You'll Get
Called "the young Django" by Charles Mingus, legendary Belgian guitarist Philip Catherine and bass virtuoso Martin Wind hit the stage together to play songs from their latest release, New Folks. At the forefront of the European jazz scene since the '60s, Catherine has recorded with such greats as Chet Baker, Dexter Gordon and Buddy Guy. Now he returns to the U.S. after a 15-year absence, bringing his distinctively lyrical playing to Manchester Craftsmen's Guild Jazz in Pittsburgh. Together, with Wind, the duo draws on its melodic jazz and swing roots for modern takes on standards like "Old Folks."
