Q&A with Sheila Juenger, Manager
Exercise is challenging, and people frequently give up on their fitness routines. How do you keep clients motivated?
Our facility is on located on Maple Woods Community College campus, and we offer an educated staff that can help a person work on their individual fitness goals at their level. Our goal is to help everyone feel comfortable joining our facility. We offer individual exercise programs, personal training, nutrition counseling, and a variety of free group classes that people of any fitness level can attend.
What is the biggest mistake you see people make when trying to get fit on their own?
The biggest mistake I think people make is they don't have a plan. They would like to get into shape, better their health, and lose weight, but they don't have a plan. Most people have great intentions and know what to do but may need additional help and guidance to help reach their goals.
When and how did you first develop a passion for fitness?
The staff at Maple Woods Fitness Center believe in overall health—not just what someone looks like on the outside. A healthy body is a strong and fit body. We focus on your fitness goals but also recognize that a health is very important that is why we focus on nutrition as well as provide a well rounded exercise program to help meet your goals. Our full time instructors have bachelors degrees in fitness and wellness, and both have certifications in exercise nutrition.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
The Maple Woods Fitness facility is predominately used by the public as well as MCC students and offers a variety of memberships. We are located on the second floor of the Northland Human Service Building and are surrounded by windows so you never feel like you are working out in a dungeon.
