What You'll Get
A throwback performer whose swinging groove has been compared to Oscar Peterson and Harry Connick Jr., Atlanta’s own Joe Alterman went full-tilt into jazz after, rumor has it, he was kicked out of music school at age 12 for breaking into boogie-woogie at a classical recital. He never looked back, and has gone on earn praise from The Wall Street Journal and to play at such prestigious venues at Milan’s Blue Note Jazz Club, Preservation Hall in New Orleans, 21 Club, Le Cirque and Lincoln Center. Alterman now returns to Atlanta’s MJCCA to deliver pure jazz joy as part of Jazz at the JCC.
