A crazy-good virtuoso on two disparate instruments -- the clarinet and the mandolin -- Andy Statman is a true pioneer in the roots-music mix of bluegrass, klezmer and jazz. He's released more than 30 albums over the course of a long career that's seen him collaborating with greats like Itzhak Perlman and Jerry Garcia and recently winning a prestigious NEA National Heritage Fellowship, the nation's highest honor in the folk and traditional arts. And even though he's an Orthodox Jew, as Rolling Stone raves, "Andy's music is not bound by denominations, but is a beautiful sound full of heat, heart and a love of God." He'll be joined by his longtime cohorts, bassist Jim Whitney and drummer Larry Eagle, on stage at the JCC, where they're likely to play cuts from their most recent disc, 2013's Superstring Theory.
