A Chat with Marianne Anderson School of Dance
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
We’re the only non-competitive school in the area, established in 1973. All MASD dancers have equal access to the best education from professional dancers. We believe proper dance training means dancers learn to love and respect themselves, their classmates, and the art of dance. MASD is not just a school. It’s a family.
What’s one tip for first-time students that will make them feel like veterans?
The secret is to dance as if no one were watching. Dance for yourself, for they joy of movement. Don’t worry if you don’t get it just right the first time, no one ever does.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
The desire to share the art of dance with the next generation. Dance is the physical manifestation of artistic expression. We teach dance so that children can express themselves and have fun doing it. Our students walk out with knowledge, self-respect, and friendships that last a lifetime.
What do you love most about your job?
The moment when the student realizes his or her full potential and graduates a well-rounded, proud individual.
