Q:

Can the value of this groupon be used towards an Ocean rental and if so do you need a license for that type of boat say the 17' Ocean Runabout?

Sonny H.  asked on  Aug 28, 2012

A:

Yes, Sonny, the value of the Groupon can be applied towards an Ocean Rental and no, you don't need a license for that type of boat. Our insurance requirements, however, say you must be at least 21 years old to rent an Ocean Boat.

Q:

Where do I pay for the upgrade?

Melinda A.  asked on  Aug 28, 2012

Melinda, to reserve an upgraded boat, you must call (949-673-3372) and provide you Groupon information. When you show up on the day of your reservation, you simply pay the difference.

Q:

Does the 16' deckboat have sufficient shade? I couldn't tell from the picture on the website. If I want to upgrade to the 18-21' electric bay cruiser or the 21' electric boat, how much do I have to add?

Melinda A.  asked on  Aug 28, 2012

A:

Melinda, the 16' deckboat has a bimini top that provides shade for a little over half the boat. Upgrading to the 18' 8-passenger electric boat is an additional $20 per hour; the 21' 12-passenger boat would be an additional $30 per hour.

My husband and I are saying in Dana Point this coming weekend, about how from Dana Point is the marina?

alyxandria p.  asked on  Aug 28, 2012

Hi Alyxandria, it's about a 30-40 minute drive up the very scenic Pacific Coast Highway. You'll pass through Laguna Beach and be within view of the ocean a good part of the way...

Q:

If I buy a 2 hour groupon, how much more to upgrade to a 12 foot duffy.

robert h.  asked on  Aug 28, 2012

A:

Robert, I'm assuming that you mean a 21 foot Duffy that holds 12 passengers. The 2-hour Groupon value is $138 while a 2-hour 21' Duffy rental would be $198, therefore, the upgrade would cost $60.

Q:

The boat allows 4 people. How about three adults and one 11-lb, well-trained dog (Pug & Chihuahua mix breed)? Do we still have to pay extra for our cute little dog (She's like our baby)?

Lingfei T.  asked on  Aug 27, 2012

A:

Lingfei, sorry, we don't allow dogs on our runabouts, however, they are allowed on our 6-passenger and 10-passenger deckboats (no carpets). The 6-passenger deckboat is a $10 upgrade. Foe more info and photos, please see our website, newportbeachboatrentals.com.

Q:

My daughter and I are qualified sailors. Can we use this Groupon discounted pricing towards the rental of your Hunter 17 sailboat? And if so, are there any special logistics to make sure that it is accepted at your rental office? Thanks.

Melissa S.  asked on  Aug 27, 2012

A:

Hi Melissa, no there are no special logistics, however, each $29 Groupon will get you a one hour rental on our Hunter 17 sailboat (a $49 value), so you'll still save $20 per hour. A $55 2-hour Groupon will save you $43 on a 2-hour rental.
