We visited this museum from a cruise ship. It was an easy 10 to 15 minute walk along the harbor's paved walkway. Several shops along the way. Museum is well worth the visit and do take in the optional film re exploring the Titanic.

History is like Frankenstein's monster; all it takes to make it come alive is the right education, a large body of artifacts exhumed from the sea, and an electrical storm. Learn from the past with today's Groupon for admission to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, located on Lower Water Street. Choose from two options:

  • For $2, you get a single admission (up to a $4.75 value).
  • For $5, you get a family admission good for two adults and two children under 17 (an $11 value).

Since its beginnings more than six decades ago, the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic has conserved artifacts and narratives from Canada's naval heritage. Traverse the heroic history of the CSS Acadia through both world wars, recline in a replica Titanic deck chair, and examine shipwreck records rescued from the hi-fi stereo systems of 5,000 doomed vessels. Weekly talks enliven the historical journey, along with special events including listening of sea music, ghost stories, family fun programs and submarine-sandwich construction workshops. Admission for children ages 5 and younger is always free.

kids loved it, enjoyed all the things they say and learned. We then went to Fairview cemetery to see Titanic graves. Very educational.

Allow at least 3 - 4 hours or even more time. Best RMS Titanic exhibits we have ever seen (and we visited the Titanic Museum in Belfast this past September 2014) .. it was very good but the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic has actual Titanic artifacts and such....

Nice walk on a Boardwalk from the cruise terminal to the Museum. Shops and eating places along the way. Excellent history of shipping in the area with many interesting displays. Titanic exhibit is not extensive but a film on the dive to the Titanic was worth the extra $2.50 above the admission price.
