The West Boca Performing Arts Theater welcomes Jekyll & Hyde, a musical adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's Gothic classic. The play, originally conceived by Frank Wildhorn and Steve Cuden in 1990, sticks pretty close to the original story of the genial Dr. Jekyll who inadvertently transforms himself into the evil Mr. Hyde during a lab experiment gone terribly awry. With the split personalities at odds, will Jekyll save himself and the people he loves, or will Hyde continue his spree of violence and destruction? Wildhorn and Cuden answer this question through inventive song and dance, which might seem at odds with Stevenson's dark themes, but it all works wondrously. The play has earned a worldwide legion of fans who've nicknamed themselves "Jekkies" -- after seeing the play yourself, you just might join their ranks.
