Maryland Lyric Opera covers all the musical bases with its latest concert, a classical variety show titled A Gesamtkunstwerk or "total work of art." A wide range of talented performers brings that concept to life by blending vocal, chamber and orchestral styles together into one afternoon of beautiful music. Soprano Emily Casey and mezzo-soprano Elizabeth Mondragon are set to perform selections from Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, accompanied by strings and harpsichordist Nicolas Catravas. You'll also enjoy Poulenc's Sonata for Flute and Piano, Beethoven's Romanze for Violin and Orchestra, with soloist Amy Beth Horman, and Brahms' Alto Rhapsody, which brings together the entire MDLO Orchestra and Chorus. Stick around for light refreshments and a meet-and-greet after the concert at DC's First Congregational UCC.
