About Matthew's Cafeteria

Louise and Bill Matthews established Matthews Cafeteria in 1955, and today, a meal at the no-frills diner is almost a right of passage for Atlanta-area residents. Under the direction of Louise and Bill's son-and-law and grandson, Matthews has moved smoothly into its sixth decade of existence thanks to a menu that hasn't changed much at all. Home-cooked Southern-style classics like fried chicken, chicken and dumplings, and veggies from local farmers still headline the menu, which features different specials everyday. In fact, one of those specials—the Brunswick stew—had Food Network star Guy Fieri swooning on an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.

It is simply a nostalgic Cafeteria food. The chicken was very good and even though I didn't get any, their desserts looked good. It's worth trying once.
