Today’s Groupon invites you to follow up your tryptophan-tinged, fuzzy memory of Thanksgiving feasting with a far more elusive turkey—the kind that takes three strikes with a bowling ball to carve. For $25, you get two hours of bowling and shoe rental, plus a pitcher of soda, at MaxBowl Centers for you and up to five friends, family members, or rivals from the snobby Icelandic bowling team (a $52 value). You can use your Groupon at MaxBowl Centers’ North and East locations, except on league nights. Call ahead to make sure the pins are available for you to unleash heck on them.

Both MaxBowl locations are open seven days a week and feature cosmic bowling on Fridays and Saturdays until 2 in the morning. Inspired by cosmologist Carl Sagan's historic discovery that everything looks totally awesome under strobing blacklights and smoke machines, cosmic bowling turns your bowling ball into a glittering planet hurtling through a vast and unknowable universe before exploding into a supernova of scattered pins. So bring friends, wear clothes that glow in the dark, and bowl like the pilgrims and Native Americans did on that first Thanksgiving day—in space.

Tom Monahan's Ghost Investigation Van

Professional bowling reached the peak of its popularity in the 1970s. Pro bowlers were featured in magazines, on children's lunchboxes, and most memorably, in animated form as the stars of the Saturday morning cartoon Tom Monahan's Ghost Investigation Van, starring PBA-tour pro Tom Monahan. The show, which was based heavily on the Scooby Doo formula, found Tom, three of his bowling-tour mates, plus a stoned teenager and his talking cat solving mysteries while traveling across the country. Here are some of the show's greatest episodes:

"The Curse of the Swamp Ghost": When the Investigation Van breaks down next to a spooky swamp, scaredy-cat teen Rufus is sent to the nearest town to find a mechanic. While he's gone, Tom and the other bowlers swap stories about losing their virginity. The swamp ghost is revealed to be an old man worried about losing his swamp hut.

"The Haunted Hotel": The gang stays overnight at a hotel seemingly overrun with spine-chilling ghosts. Tom places an angry phone call to the manager who reveals that the ghosts are part of a scheme to prevent the hotel from entering bankruptcy. Meanwhile, the lazy Rufus laments not listening to his parents' advice to see Europe while he was still young and free of any major mystery-solving commitments.

"Showdown in Ghost Town": On the way to investigate a Wild West ghost town, the gang excoriates some big-city types for not buying American cars. Rufus, long suspected of being a draft dodger, is abandoned by the gang and left on a roadside. The ghost town is quickly bypassed in favor of doing some local bowling hustling.
