The five-hour beginners' digital-photography course takes place from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on August 11 at the Spokane Convention Center. Here, developing shutterbugs master the manual settings of their cameras and discover firsthand how a change in shutter speed, aperture, or ISO affects images. Instructors also cover compositional best practices such as the rule of thirds, lens choice, and the use of leading lines. Although any digital camera may be used, students will get the most out of the class by bringing a high-quality camera with a manual mode.
