When you think of classic opera, you don't generally think of reality television. The New Philharmonic is out to change that with their contemporary rendition of Mozart's Cosi fan tutte (Women Are Like That). Placing the famous two-part opera buffa's themes of farcical trickery and young love in a decidedly contemporary context, this performance pokes fun at TV dating shows while honoring the original story, in which a pair of army officers, betting that their respective fiancés will remain faithful in their absence, pretend to have been called off to war only to don a disguise and attempt to seduce the other's lover. Much like a bachelor or bachelorette selects their mate on a reality dating finale, you get to pick one of three endings for the performance, so stay tuned to the very end.
