MCC Theater dazzles arts-admirers with entertaining and provocative productions that strive to leave a lasting mark on the American theater scene. Penned by noted playwright Michael Weller (Moonchildren, Loose Ends) and directed by playwright David Auburn (Proof), Side Effects topically tackles the turmoil within a rising political pundit's marriage. Joely Richardson (Nip/Tuck, David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and rising star Cotter Smith (Next Fall) take the stage, filling the Lucille Lortel Theatre with the sights, sounds, and synesthesiac sound-sights of their characters' inner lives. Though seats will be assigned when theater-goers arrive at the venue, each chair in the Lortel's tiered, near 300-seat theater offers praise-worthy vistas that allow patrons to take in every verbal exchange, entrance, and exit. Groups whose members have each purchased a ticket through Groupon will be seated together, ensuring they can share views and midshow Statler and Waldorf impressions.

MCC Theater offers $20 tickets to patrons under the age of 30 as well as student rush tickets in limited quantities for each performance. Be sure to check online-availability to ensure you're getting the best deal.

About MCC Theater

Liev Schreiber. Laurie Metcalf. David Duchovny. Kathleen Turner. These are just a handful of the lauded actors who have graced MCC Theater's productions throughout the years. Surprisingly, the company didn't start with its eyes trained on the stars with the highest wattage—the founders came together in 1986 to create a workshop-like space to develop their own artistic voices as actors, directors, and writers. After the peer-led classes proved fruitful, they staged showcases and later full-scale off-Broadway productions that attracted the talents of renowned artists. Today, MCC continues to produce buzzed-about works that tackle ethical dilemmas and world premieres by playwrights on the rise.
