Digital photography has eliminated the need for darkrooms, making the profession a lot less spooky. Get frightfully good photos with this Groupon.
Choose Between Two Options
- $49 for a five-hour beginners’ digital-photography course for one (a $424 value)
- $89 for a five-hour beginners’ digital-photography course for two (an $848 value)
Each student receives one $25 voucher for printing services.
During the course—taking place from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Sharonville Convention Center—beginning shutterbugs master the manual settings of their camera and discover firsthand how a change in shutter speed, aperture, or ISO affects the image. Instructors also cover compositional best practices such as the rule of thirds, lens choice, and the use of leading lines. Although any digital camera may be used, students will get the most out of the class by bringing a high-quality camera with a manual mode.
McKay Photography Academy
Bearing the titles of Master of Photography and Photographic Craftsman from Professional Photographers of America, David and Ally McKay embody the keen vision and aesthetic prowess that separated good photographers from great ones. They share these skills during classes at McKay Photography Academy, where they train eyes, fingers, and imaginations to work in tandem as a snapshooting dream machine. Their classes help aspiring photographers progress from neophytes to seasoned pros. When not busy instructing the next generation of shutterbugs, David and Ally also devise photo safaris, which send small teams of photographers to capture shots of famed landmarks including San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge; the Lincoln Memorial of Washington, DC; or Yosemite's 60-foot statue of Yogi Bear.

“I had a great experience, and I learned a lot about photography that I probably would never have figured out as easily on my own. I don't get to spend a lot of time with my camera right now, but when I do, knowing the techniques we learned from McKay Photography really comes in handy. :-) Thank you!”
