What You'll Get
Long ago, Scottish polo players longed for a game where they could explore scenic terrain, ride an obedient mechanical horse, and wear more courageously plaid knickers. Marvel in their subsequent invention with today's Groupon: for $50, you get 18 holes of golf for two (a $100 value) at McNary Golf Club in Keizer.
Formerly Senator Charles McNary's family farm, this popular course spans 150 acres of picturesque meadows and is accented by scenic lakes of hazard. To up the atmospheric ante, the course also boasts the babbling beauty of Claggett Creek, which crosses over four different holes and runs along the oaks, walnuts, redwoods, and pine trees that line the manicured fairways. McNary's signature hole, the par-5 18th, whimsically winds past oxygen-panting arbor before culminating in a large green next to a moat-like section of the creek, where a castle once stood guarded by fire-breathing caddies.
Though essential to performing a cartwheel, a cart is not included with today's Groupon. Scheduling a tee time is recommended.

About McNary Golf Club
Sculpted into the one-time family farm of former Oregon Governor and U.S. Senator Charles McNary, McNary Golf Club encompasses diverse trees and rippling waterways into an 18-hole layout that spans 150 acres of rolling meadows. A mixed assemblage of oaks, firs, pines, and redwood trees mingle on the course's emerald sidelines, watching over each towering drive and bickering about squirrel housing arrangements. Claggett Creek comes into play on four holes, including the signature 18th, where its rippling waters snake in front of the enormous green, shaking its hydraulic fists at well-struck balls as they somersault onto the putting surface. A staff of resident aces roam the pristine grounds, showering guests and unsuspecting flagsticks with nuggets of golf wisdom.
