What You'll Get
Though the words are used interchangeably, a maze contains multiple paths, whereas a labyrinth has a single winding route and is built in an outline of David Bowie during his "Thin White Duke" era. Traverse a maze free of formerly glam elements with today's Groupon: for $8, you get two tickets to the Meadow View Growers Corn MAiZE, located in New Carlisle (up to a $16 value). The Corn MAiZE opens on September 17 and closes October 30, regardless of whether you're still trapped in it. You can stalk among the stalks on Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission includes all activities except the hayride ($2), kiddie train ($1), and corn cannon ($1 for three shots).
This year, Meadow View's maze designers and dungeon masters have designed the eight-acre corn maze in the shape of the city of New Carlisle's Bicentennial and Speedway SuperAmerica logos—though that won't help you much as you gleefully lose yourself in the disorienting twists, turns, and dead-ends at ground level. Along the way, you may encounter figures from the city's past, such as Jesse James, who famously robbed one of his first banks in New Carlisle before giving up thieving and becoming president. Once you've successfully traversed the maze and its litter of minotaurs, you can relax around the campfire in the Kidz Corral, pick up a pumpkin at the pumpkin patch, visit the whimsical Pumpkin House, or take part in the goat walk, among other activities.
Your visit to the Corn MAiZE can benefit more than just your own sense of direction. Meadow View will donate one dollar to the Children's Miracle Network for every visitor to the maze on October 1 and October 2. And on October 1 and October 8, all visitors who register at the Springfield or Dayton center to donate blood to help starving vampire children all over the world will receive a coupon for a "buy one, get one free" admission to the maze—giving you multiple opportunities to explore Meadow View's monument of Borgesian agriculture. Treat your family to the second-greatest Midwest fall tradition after filling a jack o' lantern with firecrackers with today's Groupon to the Meadow View Growers Corn MAiZE.
