Q:

If I buy the groupon today, would I be able to use it as soon as this weekend (if there is an open spot in the reservations schedule) Thanks!

Alexyus S.  asked on  May 30, 2013

A:

Ubetcha!!! IF and that's a BIG if, there is a reservation slot open. We have a fleet of 16 kayaks and sometimes they are all reserved. But hey, come out early and enjoy the rest of park while you wait for your reservation time. It's all FUN!!!

Q:

In your first reponse you said :" There is a rule of thumb that one must be at least 50 lbs to be in a kayak and that should be coupled with their ability to swim, paddle and react to commands." I and my wife were interested in this acitivity but don't know how to swim. Just wanted to check if we can still go kayaking ?

Safety comes first !!! Are you going to feel comfortable doing this since you don't know how to swim??? If the answer is NO .... that should be your answer.

A:

And on top of that, you are outfitted with a life jacket and safety whistle, in the event you need additional help. Hope you decide to try it out !!!

Q:

is this tandem or solo?

eric s.  asked on  May 28, 2013

A:

This particular Groupon is for the solo unit. For an additional $5, paid on site, you can rent the tandem unit. Please let staff know when you call to make your reservation. Have fun and be careful!!!

Q:

Great deal, but can you please clarify: Advertisement says: "All rentals include a 20% discount at Meadowmere Park's campground on the day of the kayak reservation." Is there an extra charge beyond the rental of the kayaks? If so, what is the charge?

Calvin C.  asked on  May 28, 2013

A:

Some people do read the "fine print", I'm impressed :-). Yes there is an additional fee for camping. It is regularlly $25 per night, but with this Groupon you get a $5 discount for every night you camp if you use the Groupon during your stay. So it would be $20 to tent camp at Meadowmere Park and enjoy the water, trails, birds, and on Friday nights, FIREWORKS over Lake Grapevine! Come see it for yourself!

Q:

I just tried to book through the online "book now" feature and it said every day for the next 3 months is "unavailable". Luckily, I found the number of the park and booked through there. You may want to fix that - I almost called Groupon to get a refund!

You caught us!!! Thanks for going in and trying the scheduling system. We don't have it up and running just yet, but will be. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We'll get right on this. Come on out and have fun for the day!!!

Q:

Hello! We've never done this before and wanted to ask if it's possible to have a toddler strapped in our lap while on a kayak? We want our daughter to enjoy this activity with us. She is 4.5.

Evushka  asked on  May 24, 2013

A:

WOW!!! wanting to start them out young! Unfortunately our kayaks are not designed to be passenger units. There is a rule of thumb that one must be at least 50 lbs to be in a kayak and that should be coupled with their ability to swim, paddle and react to commands. I would recommend going to Meadowmere Park and taking out our paddle boats that seat 4 people. Thanks and have fun!

Q:

The Fine Print states, "Limit 1 per person, may buy 1 additional as a gift. Limit 1 per visit." If I purchase one for myself, and one (gift) for my son, can we both use them on the same visit, or must they be used on separate visits?

Marcy W.  asked on  May 24, 2013

A:

Yes you may use both of them on the same day. Make it a family affair!!! Thanks for buying! Have fun :-)

Q:

Will this be available for Memorial Day 2013?

Katherine G.  asked on  May 23, 2013

A:

Good question Katherine! Right now the park camping is completely booked but we will still allow day use. As for reserving kayaks for this weekend, it's going to be very iffy. With so many visitors already coming to the park, reservation times, phone calls, and our strong customer service all things are going to be limited. So to anwer your question, yes we will take reservations, on a first come first served basis. But please be patient if the line is busy or there is a delay in responding to voice mails. It's our busiest weekend of the year! :-) Thanks and I hope you have a great time out there!
