About Meimaris Sports Chiropractic
During his tenure as the team doctor for the US National Karate Team, doctor of chiropractic Demetri Meimaris faced his share of adversity. In an article from Dynamic Chiropractic that described conditions at the 1994 Onishi Cup International Goodwill Games in Venezuela, he was reported as facing 110-degree temperatures and an onslaught of team injuries, including fractured ribs, broken noses, and a mallet fracture of the index finger. Though not a medical doctor, Dr. Meimaris worked up to 13 hours a day to face these challenges head-on—an action that was rewarded by invitations to later national competitions including an invitation to Greece to assist the US National Karate team compete against Syria, Italy, and Greece. Dr. Meimaris has helped out professional, olympic, and collegiate athletes throughout his career.
A 1984 graduate of the Palmer College of Chiropractic, Dr. Meimaris brings this same level of compassion to his own practice, where he uses his background in sports-related chiropractic care to tend to his patients—from athletes to average citizens. Extensive experience in spinal decompression and auto-accident pain management as well as hip and shoulder rehabilitation and worker's compensation injuries allows him to ease patient pain; for difficult cases, Dr. Meimaris performs manipulation under anesthesia. Dr. Meimaris utilizes a variety of techniques including cox flexion-distraction and active release techniques.
