Here and Now Chinese Contemporary Artists Invitational Exhibition
September 2025 - January 2026
Media: Oil painting, ink, sculpture, woodcut, and more.
Step into a dynamic artistic landscape where material form becomes a living vessel of awareness. Featuring works by more than forty contemporary Chinese artists, Here and Now redefines how art is experienced, felt, and understood.
Rather than organizing artworks by style or chronology, the exhibition unfolds as a field of energy and space where brushstroke, texture, movement, and presence resonate across cultures and disciplines.
Curatorial Vision
Here and Now is shaped by a five-member curatorial team, each bringing a distinct perspective and area of focus that together form a multidimensional energy field for the exhibition:
Stone Chun Shi, Chief Curator -- Energy of Creation
An artist and philosopher, Shi is known for his Stonecube visual language and theory of Energy Art. He approaches painting as a manifestation of inner energy, where matter and light converge in a kind of spiritual architecture.
Sun Xiaojun, Curator -- Energy of the Academy
Bringing an academic curatorial background from China, Sun highlights emerging and mid-career artists whose mastery of traditional media such as oil and ink, revives classical training through contemporary sensibility.
Willa Ao, Curator and Founder/Director of Memor Museum -- Energy of Heritage
Ao bridges Memor's strength in heritage exhibitions with contemporary practice, selecting works that connect historical depth with present vitality and cultural continuity.
Michael Liu, Curator and Chief Designer -- Energy of Space
Liu translates architecture into rhythm and light, reshaping the Finch Mansion's historic interiors into an immersive environment in which artworks, viewers, and space interact.
Sonia Hu, Curator -- Energy of Consciousness
A writer and curator, Hu situates the exhibition within broader cross-cultural discourse, linking Here and Now to studies of perception, spirit, and form.
Together, these five curators construct a layered framework in which creation, discipline, heritage, space, and consciousness resonate as one cohesive exhibition experience.
The Exhibition Experience
Within the museum's century-old architectural landmark, Here and Now dissolves the boundaries between space, form, and audience. Oil paintings, ink works, sculptures, and woodcuts become carriers of vibration and presence, transmitting a sense of living energy between artist and viewer.
In this way, Here and Now is not only an exhibition but an active field of resonance, positioning Chinese contemporary art as a vital force within today's global cultural landscape.
