Memphis Fitness Kickboxing’s instructors impart skills and techniques for punches, kicks, and resistance-training basics during more than 30 weekly classes for students aged 13 and older. Guided by one of nine experienced instructors, participants of all skill and experience levels build speed and stamina as they jab, hook, knee, and rap battle a 200-pound bag over the course of 40–50 minutes. In addition to melting calories with muay-thai-inspired round kicks and Western boxing drills, students cultivate strong, flexible cores with yoga poses and abdominal exercises. Dumbbells, resistance bands, and weighted balls fortify the remaining muscle groups, rendering easy everyday tasks such as lifting grocery bags and shot-putting trash bags.
