Mercury Cafe
There are things one expects when heading into a lunch spot and cafe: pastries, lattes, and probably a to-go bag or two. Mercury Cafe has all those things, but they've also got something you might not expect: a cubano sandwich made with house-made, slow-roasted pork loin. The cafe is full of these kinds of delightful surprises, serving up hearty plates that you'd more likely find at a full-fledged restaurant than a neighborhood cafe, including house-made roast beef sandwiches, pork or eggplant schnitzel, and, on Fridays, piping hot pizzas. All that being said, they have the whole light cafe lunch thing (think butternut squash soup and a leafy salad) down pat. And they certainly know how to serve up breakfast-on-the-go items, slinging the likes of chocolate peanut butter muffins and scone cookies.
