What You'll Get
Though charcoal drawing was once the dominant artistic medium in America, precious few masterworks survived the realization that those early portraits could be crumpled up and used to grill delicious cuts of steak. Honor forgotten artists with today’s Groupon: for $20, you get $40 worth of wood-grilled surf and turf and drinks at Mesquite Grill in Greenwood Village.
Open since 1988, chefs at Mesquite Grill stoke custom-built pits to send out orders from their menu of steaks hot from the fire and an ocean’s worth of seafood selections. Flames leap from a grill piled high with all-natural mesquite charcoal, blowing fiery kisses at sushi-grade ahi tuna steaks ($13.95 lunch, $19.95 dinner) and hiding love notes under buns on hand-shaped burgers ($8.95–$9.95). The Fiesta Platter ($25.95) casts a wide net over taste buds with juicy scallops, shrimp, and salmon, and the surf-and-turf partnership of 10-ounce tenderloin and tender grouper ($38.95) resolves conflicting cravings in a trial by wood grill. Batter up reclusive tongues with a fried platter of cod ($9.95 lunch, $14.95 dinner), shrimp ($11.95 lunch, $16.95 dinner), or calamari steak ($9.95 lunch, $16.95 dinner) paired with fresh fries and coleslaw. Patrons can also select from a bevy of beer, wine, and specialty drinks, including the Mesquite Grill Manhattan ($7.95+).
Charming maritime décor and deep-blue tablecloths transport diners with an illusion of the seaside complete with courteous mermaids refilling their drinks and narwhals humming coded messages in whalesong.

About Mesquite Grill Steak & Seafood
A grill roars at 725 degrees Fahrenheit, the all-natural mesquite wood charcoal igniting flames that tenderly kiss the fresh cuts of meat and seafood. This centuries-old practice remains preserved in Mesquite Grill Steak & Seafood, owned since 1988 by Robert and Wendy Zamani. The couple are now celebrating the restaurant's 25th anniversary, as well as its 2012 designation as a Top Rated Restaurant by Restaurant.com. Chefs flash grill entrees such as tenderloin until they are deemed worthy to join optional supplements of fried shrimp, lobster tail, or king-crab legs on diners' plates. At lunchtime, the chefs slip grilled specialties such as hand-patted burger meat, gyros, and calamari steak between two slices of bread.
As the smells of grilled salmon, grouper, and clam chowder waft into the dining space, an air of New England emanates from the walls, which are dotted with seaside paintings, ship nets and rigging, and a colossal stuffed marlin that offers menu suggestions to picky eaters. Mesquite Grill Steak & Seafood also showcases Wendy's own hand-painted glassware, which customers can purchase, including wineglasses, decanters, and candleholders, all adorned with nontoxic paints.
