Spend Thanksgiving Eve basting your turkey legs in drum and bass with today’s Groupon: $23 for admission to the Metro and Smart Bar (normally $36) plus a drink ticket (worth $10, a total value of $46). There is one show featuring club, house, and electro-pop performances at each venue (Smart Bar is below the Metro), and you will get entry to both. Every time someone redeems this Groupon, a DJ gets his wings.
The party starts when doors open at 10 p.m. at Smart Bar and features Derrick Carter, Greenskeepers, Miss Honey Dijon, and Brian Heath. At 11:30 p.m., head upstairs to the Metro to catch Wahi and Santiago & Bushido open up before Kaskade dramatically ends the night with live vocals by Haley. Dance your way through seven acts while burning enough calories to offset the next day’s seven epic feasts.
First, catch old-school house producer and DJ Derrick Carter as he lights up the eyes and ears of the audience. Then, allow up-and-comers Greenskeepers to bring their quirky brand of electro-dance to your quirky ear canals. At the late show, you won’t want to miss Kaskade as he spins hits like “I Remember” and “Move for Me.” Haley will be sharing the stage, singing live for this special performance.
The show is on a Wednesday, but let’s not forget that the next day is a holiday, so you’re free to let the bass vibrate your bones and tickle your soul past bedtime. Bass, bright lights, and free drink combined remove one's inhibitions, such as the unfortunate inhibition of not putting glow sticks in your mouth.
- Kaskade is irrefutably pop-influenced, and uses vocal segues well, suspending them between beats so that they hang unaccompanied, like an expectation, before the synthetic pop of a familiar tune is mixed in. – Annie Zaleski, River Front Times
