Humans are foragers, a nature traceable to Paleolithic forebearers who spent their days wandering tree aisles for the cheapest nuts, figs, and game birds. Follow those ancient instincts to today's deal: for $14, you get $30 worth of gourmet groceries from Metropolitan Market, located in Pepper Pike. If you spend $60 or more during your visit, you'll also get an additional 10% off the purchase amount exceeding your Groupon's $30 value.
Metropolitan Market is a locally-owned-and-operated market that's been serving up stupendous cuts of meat and freshly delivered seafood to the Cleveland area since 2003. Both uncooked and prepared foods are available for culinary captains and last-minute party-planners alike. Menus shift weekly, but you'll always find a variety of meat and seafood, as well as specialty foods such as frozen soups and pastas, dips, side salads, and more. If it's sea-meat you're craving, pick up walleye filets ($16.99 per pound) or Bay of Fundy salmon ($12.99 per pound) for a feast fresh from the earth's tear ducts. Get a USDA Prime aged signature sirloin steak ($12.99 per pound), and truss that mighty meal up with shiitake mushrooms ($9.99 per pound) or peaches and creamed corn ($4.99 per bag). Mop up whatever's left on the plate with a French dinner roll ($5.99 per dozen).
Gourmet ingredients can be intimidating, reminding unprepared preparers of insecurities that haven't surfaced since fifth-grade kazoo choir. Fear not the raw slab of high-quality beef—the attentive and friendly folks that staff Metropolitan are stuffed like strombolis full of culinary training. Ask any foodie-related questions that spring to mind, and you'll quickly be showered with preparation suggestions, tips, and even seasonal recipes. Today's Groupon also makes an excellent gift for food-focused friends and family members who have the ability to tell a good cut of fish from the rubber chickens you usually give as presents.

The Cleveland Foodie blog is a fan of Metropolitan Market and its customer service:
- I normally don’t buy prepared food, but since we both like fish and want it as part of our regular diet, this is one area I have made an exception. They offer about 10 or so fish varieties. Our favorites are the macadamia crusted mahi mahi with ginger and tortilla crusted tilapia with chipotle and lime. Both are full of flavor, pretty healthy and reasonably priced. And I have to admit, it has been nice to come home from a long day at work and my only responsibility is putting together a side of sorts…[The woman who works there] was more excited about teaching me how to cook fish. She said I am probably making it more complicated then it really is and she’d provide me with a bunch of simple recipes on my next visit. – Michelle V.
