The greatest double bill in opera history returns to the stage of the Metropolitan Opera House in a reprise of Sir David McVicar's stylish production from the 2014-15 season. Tenor Yonghoon Lee and mezzo-soprano Violeta Urmana star in Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana, the story of a young soldier who reunites passionately with his now-married former lover, with tragic results. That will be followed by tenor Marco Berti as the murderous clown Canio and soprano Barbara Frittoli as his philandering wife in Leoncavallo's darkly comic Pagliacci. Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi will be on the podium.
