What You'll Get
Hang gliders are the cowboys of the air, roaming the wide-open skies and herding children’s runaway balloons. Giddy up, up, and away with this Groupon.
$89 for Tandem Hang-Gliding Flight Package ($179 Total Value)
- Tandem Discovery flight (a $149 value)
- Admission to the air-sports park (a $15 value)
- 30-day membership to US Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association (a $10 value)

Flights are offered Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from sunrise to sunset. A 30-minute video and ground-school session prep budding aerialists for a hands-on lesson in hang-gliding in which an instructor and trainee coast on the wind at heights of more than 1,500 feet—which is higher than the Empire State Building. While midflight, the instructor hands over the hang-glider’s controls to the pupil, which allows the student to test out steering skills as the instructor catches up on yesterday’s crossword puzzle. Customers may apply the value of their Groupon toward an upgrade to a different flight if desired.

About Orlando Hang Gliding
At Orlando Hang Gliding, a USHPA-certified hang gliding school, pilots work toward earning their solo pilot’s license through programs designed to help them become an expert glider. The Level I program comprises six tandem flights at over 1,000 feet. During these sessions, a certified instructor helps the student learn such skills as launch techniques, water landings, and in-flight maneuvers—crucial when trying to shake an autograph-seeking pigeon. Once complete, students matriculate to the Level II program, a nine-flight regimen that prepares them for their first solo flight. Prior to signing up, potential pilots can enroll in an Introductory Class, which includes one tandem flight with a certified instructor. Orlando Hang Gliding helps gliders get some wind beneath their wings via a power boat cruising across Biscayne Bay, due to the absence of local mountains or hidden cloud cities from which to take off.
