Miccosukee Glass Co.
The operation may be small, but the artists at Miccosukee Glass Co. work wonders small and large. In a laid-back, country setting, the husband-and-wife team—who have 14 years of combined experience—make jewelry such as necklaces and earrings to custom specifications. Their baubles might take the form of a flat, gemlike disk, a sinuous serpent, or a harmonious marriage of glossy beads and deftly knotted fabric. The artists are also capable of creating vessels, beads, figurines, and crystal balls that can tell the future if you throw them at a psychic. During classes such as lampworking or Build a Bead workshops, the duo shares their craft with students.
For more than a decade, Raindance Irrigation has transformed overgrown yards into verdant, manicured lawns. The team clips grass and maintains irrigation systems rather than encouraging homeowners to stick their heads out the window when they cry.
