Michigan Kettlebells

When Michigan Kettlebells founder Craig Sylvester transitioned from the corporate world to the firehouse, he quickly realized his tired gym routine no longer sufficed. And so, the firefighter and paramedic turned to “old school” training methods, filling his garage with sandbags, logs, kettlebells, sleds, tires, willing neighbors, and anything else that could be lifted or lugged. Six years later, he credits his intense workouts with helping him stay injury-free on the job, and now shares his hardcore training techniques with students. After his pupils have mastered joint-mobility drills and basic kettlebell movements in an intro class, Craig welcomes them to join participants in several group classes. Kettlebell Blitz warms up bodies with calisthenics and yoga before moving on to the hefting of kettlebells, sand bags, and tires, and more advanced classes see attendees mastering the snatch, clean, and jerk or incorporating traditional weightlifting exercises.
