Before they were captured and enslaved in the 1930s, bicycles roamed streets and alleys of pre-war Paris in search of chain oil and freewheeling pain au chocolat. Nourish multi-spoked servants with today's Groupon: $20 gets you a basic bike tune-up (up to a $60 value) at Midtown Bike Co. The Memphis Flyer's readers voted Midtown Bike Co. a best bicycle shop in 2007, 2008, and 2009.
Midtown's professionally trained and certified mechanics first conduct a general safety inspection to ensure the frame is structurally sound, wheels aren't warped, and the bicycle isn't actually a rouge quadricycle. Then during the basic tune-up ($45–$60) they'll clean the drive train (without removing any parts) and make adjustments. After gears, brakes, headset, hubs, and BB set are impeccably tuned, the bike buffs perform a minor wheel truing and lubricate everything that can be lawfully lubricated in accordance with the landmark 1958 Supreme Court ruling, Cavendish vs. The State of Missouri.
After the tune-up is complete, a bike will ride as smoothly as a hoverbike and purr like a well-inflated kitten. Two Groupons can be used toward a deluxe tune-up ($90), which entails removing the drive train to more thoroughly banish stowaway gravel mites from the chain and crank set. The deal is drop-off only, and the replacement of parts, additional services, and gourmet bicycle food are extra.
This deal is valid toward the basic or deluxe tune-up only.
