Early alliances between fun and danger included the fiery, elliptical flight patterns of flaming boomerangs and the funnel cakes-turned-clouds of midwestern state fairs. Safely support perilous pairings with today’s Groupon to "A Night with Captain Sig and the Hillstrand Brothers from Deadliest Catch" at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 15. Choose between two seating options:
- For $15, you get one ticket in either the grand-tier or family-circle sections (a $29.75 value)
- For $20, you get one ticket in the rear-orchestra or dress-circle section (a $39.75 value).
Seasoned boat captains and crustacean prospectors Sig Hansen, Johnathan Hillstrand, and Andy Hillstrand gather to share with audience members their tales of struggle and survival during crab season on the high seas, as partly documented by the Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch. Fishing the Bering Sea in the middle of winter demands strong wills—which can come together in times of treacherous weather and 100-foot waves or come to blows about who performs better in the three-legged crabwalk race. Selected audience members will also have the chance to don the survival suits from the Time Bandit. Following the story-swapping and previously unreleased video footage, greenhorns and avid fans will have the opportunity to launch questions at the captains, wave giant foam claws, and learn how to communicate in claw-snap Morse code.
Dedicated to community cultural enrichment, Fox Cities Performing Arts Center seats up to 2,100 in Thrivent Financial Hall, which has hosted Broadway blockbusters such as Wicked and Billy Elliot. Doors open one hour prior to performances and guests are asked to arrive at least 20 minutes early to locate their seats and practice encore chants.
