What You'll Get
Issa Boulos, the award-winning Palestinian-American composer-musician, and Wanees Zarour, director of the Middle East Music Ensemble at the University of Chicago, come together as the duo Pulse for this concert spotlighting the music of the Levant, both current and past. That region of the eastern Mediterranean, which includes Syria and Lebanon, has a rich cultural history, which Pulse brings to beating life on traditional instruments at St. Paul's Sundin Music Hall. You may even hear an original work by Boulos, who's been commissioned to write pieces for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Silk Road Ensemble, as well as original scores for documentaries, plays and feature films.
Concert is expected to run two hours.
