What You'll Get
The Minnesota Philharmonic Orchestra spotlights works influenced by indigenous music by famed composers like Ravel, Copland and Britten, in Folk Songs: The Voice of the People at St. Paul's Sundin Hall. Soprano Maria Jette is set to join Music Director Alexander Platt and the MPO for Manuel de Falla's Seven Popular Spanish Songs, which pulls tunes from a variety of Spanish regions, including flamenco from the country's southeast. Also on the bill is is Ravel's gypsy-style Tzigane, with violinist Catherine Himmerich featured as a soloist for the challenging piece, as well as Aaron Copland's Quiet City, Britten and Berkeley's Mont Juic and Gabriela Lena Frank's Three Latin American Dances.
