What You'll Get

To tuxedoed people, velvet ropes are white picket fences and champagne fountains are lawn sprinklers. Kick down the fence and drink from the sprinkler with today's Groupon: for $12, you get $25 worth of American bistro fare and specialty drinks at Mint and 820, located in Eliot.

Lucy Brennan, Mint and 820's owner, is a highly respected master of the mixed drink and was listed on Playboy's Top 10 American bartenders A-List. Brennan's menu of creative cocktails contains concoctions that incorporate fresh vegetables, aromatic herbs, and top-quality liquors, resulting in simple yet innovative thirst quenchers. The signature avocado daiquiri ($9) brings together light and gold rums, slices of avocado, cream, lemon and lime juice, and sugar, coalescing into a satisfyingly smooth concoction worthy of a slip n' slide. Pair the succulent lamb burger ($13) with the Bella, a fragrant blend of blackberry puree, vodka, and lemon lime presented in a sugar-trimmed martini glass ($8). Prevent premature "I love you, man's" by adequately assuaging the stomach with a selection from the food menu, which includes cheese-stuffed risotto balls ($9) and seared sea scallops with tomatoes, basil, and olive oil ($13). Other entrees include roasted duck breast ($18), lemon spaetzle ($9 half, $15 whole), and a ling-cod fish and chips ($10).

In addition to being a renowned priestess of the potion, Lucy Brennan has a magical touch that lends itself to the atmospheres of both Mint and 820. Mint, the bistro half, exudes a modern yet comforting feel, while 820, a lounge focusing largely on cocktails, radiates an upbeat attitude with touches such as a sunken lounge space and a seasonal patio.

This Groupon is valid for dine-in only and is not valid for happy-hour pricing.

Mint and 820 received some excellent press, and Lucy Brennan's recipes have been featured on Health.com and in Sherman's Travel. Brennan was ranked in Playboy's Top 10 American bartenders A-List.

Mint received an average of 3.5 stars from Yelpers, and a four-star average from Citysearchers. 820 was reviewed by BarFly, and Yelpers gave it a four-star average:

About Mint/820

Seeking a home for her one-of-a-kind mixed drinks—including lollipop-rimmed martinis—nationally recognized mixologist Lucy opened Mint restaurant in the spring of 2001. Her acclaimed cocktails’ popularity grew so quickly that in 2003, she opened an adjacent lounge where patrons could focus on drinks such as avocado daiquiris and jalapeño-and-pineapple margaritas. Along with its selection of 40 signature cocktails, the bistro has been luring patrons in with chef Brian McElmeel’s Pan-American-style dishes, which are composed predominantly of local and organic ingredients and influences from the Pacific Northwest, Mediterranean, and Latin America.
