What You'll Get
Music is humanity's universal language, narrowly beating out such close contenders as Esperanto, The Simpsons references, and yodeled profanity. Learn how to rhythmically communicate across cultures with today’s Groupon: for $60, you get four weeks of guitar, piano, or drum lessons at Mintons Academy of Music in Ashburn (a $120 value).
Mintons Academy of Music's instructors gather up to six fledgling musicians in a supportive atmosphere to impart techniques for coaxing melodies and rhythms out of instruments. During piano lessons, the instructor explains elementary theory, introduces basic fingering, and reveals the secret chord that, when played, causes a piano to open a secret compartment filled with dodo eggs. Hands drag picks across strings as fingers learn to fix themselves in harmonious chord shapes during guitar lessons, and drum lessons fill noggins with the know-how to bang out steady beats. Students do not need pianos at home to enlist in classes, but the school suggests either an electric keyboard or a clone of Billy Joel to practice with between lessons.
