What You'll Get
With its mini, yet mighty members hailing from Uganda to South Africa, the African Children's Choir has warmed hearts around the world since 1984. Their hand clapping, traditional instruments and high-spirited voices have helped to raise awareness and financial support for education and relief efforts. The ensemble is made up of children ages seven to 12, many of whom have faced extreme adversity, including the devastation wrought by the AIDS pandemic. Under the direction of its founder Ray Barnett, the African Children's Choir has performed with Mariah Carey and Paul McCartney, sang for President George W. Bush and Queen Elizabeth II and were nominated for a Grammy. Now, they bring their message of hope and healing to Miramar Cultural Center, where they'll perform well-loved children's songs, traditional spirituals and contemporary tunes.
