About Mission Kayak

Featured in magazines such as Texas Highways and Texas Monthly, Mission Kayak makes it easy and fun to experience the most of the San Antonio Mission Reach with their kayaks and unique shuttle service. Their boats are always prepared for adventures on the San Antonio River, which visitors can paddle in trips that range from 75 minutes to four hours. Kayakers navigate the waters of Mission Reach, an 8-mile stretch of the river that's undergoing significant ecosystem restoration and recreational redevelopment. Along the way, they slide down concrete "chutes" that help even beginners negotiate the river's rapids.

Mission Kayak offers a shuttle service that drops kayakers at a launch point from which they start to paddle back to Espada Park, the company's meeting spot. In the meantime, they can observe a wealth of wildlife and ancient trees growing by the riverside. Guided nature tours are led by an environmental biologist—and American Canoe Association–certified kayak instructor—who can point out creatures like osprey and caracara. Boaters can also rent out kayaks on an hourly basis to explore on their own.
